The Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested an alleged human trafficker and a migrant Thursday morning during a raid in Montreal North as part of an investigation into an alleged human-trafficking ring.
According to the RCMP, the residence was being used as temporary shelter for migrants who had crossed the border illegally or to hide migrants while arranging illegal smuggling into the United States. The operation was led by the Champlain Integrated Border Enforcement Team, which includes RCMP officers, Canada Border Services Agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and other U.S. agencies.
The investigation is ongoing.
