REM ridership surges as Canadiens make playoff push
Bonaventure station connecting Bell Centre sees traffic boost
Montreal's light-rail network is experiencing increased ridership as the Canadiens advance through the playoffs. The Bonaventure station of the REM—Réseau express métropolitain—connects directly to the Bell Centre, making transit a convenient option for fans heading to games. Julien Hurel, vice-president of the REM project at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, noted that transit officials have a goal of reaching 150,000 daily rides by the time the network is fully completed, a target being accelerated by playoff fever.
