Six people were taken to hospital Saturday night during a concert by the popular Saguenay band Angine de Poitrine at the Montreal Jazz Festival, with paramedics treating 10 people total for a range of medical emergencies.

Urgences-santé crews responded to calls including falls, traumatic injuries, and cases of intoxication. Four people refused transport after being assessed by paramedics. Benjamin Dansereau-Leclerc, head of operations at Urgences-santé, said some of those hospitalized were in serious condition, though paramedics did not fear for anyone's life.

The agency noted that responding to multiple medical incidents simultaneously at a major outdoor event is not unusual and said it plans for such coverage at summer festivals. The situation reflects the scale of the crowd — the Jazz Festival's general manager called it "one of the biggest crowds in our history," with an "energy like we've rarely seen." Urgences-santé is reminding festivalgoers to stay hydrated, especially when combining alcohol with hot weather, and to take breaks in cooler areas.
