The last location of Steve's Music Store, a downtown Montréal fixture for six decades, has officially closed. The retailer, founded by Steve Kirman in May 1965 when he was 18, once thrived across Canada with locations in Ottawa, Toronto, and multiple branches in the greater Montréal area. All of those locations had already shuttered earlier this year.

Store owner Mike Kirman announced the closure through a message on the company's website, citing "several factors, including the post-COVID world and the evolution of the economy" as reasons for the difficult decision to close and restructure the enterprise.

In its closing message, Steve's Musique expressed gratitude to the musicians it had served across the generations. "You weren't just customers, you were part of our family," the team wrote, acknowledging the role the store played in supporting local and travelling musicians who passed through Montréal.
