<p>When Nick Suzuki scored a crucial playoff goal Thursday night making it 5-3, fans across Montreal leapt to their feet screaming "We did it! We did it again! WE scored!" — note the word "WE," not "they."</p><p>Like fans all over the city, supporters felt somehow part of that crucial goal, although they couldn't say exactly how. The elation and pride at that moment was so intense you'd think they had laced up skates, played three periods and scored themselves. It's a uniquely Montreal phenomenon — the merging of identity with hockey.</p>
