This week splits in two: a damp Sunday and Monday that'll keep you indoors, then a sharp clearing by Thursday that opens the city back up. Plan accordingly, because the weather will dictate where your night lands.

Start with Thursday night's CFL showdown between the Ottawa REDBLACKS and Montreal Alouettes at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is 7:30 PM, and the forecast turns dry and overcast by then—solid football weather. If you want live sports without leaving the island, this is your play; the Alouettes' home crowd makes for genuine atmosphere, and August games have a loose, midsummer feel that beats the October grind.

For the wet stretch early in the week, Luc Langevin's magic shows at Place des Arts on Sunday afternoon (2:00 PM, with a second performance) offer indoor shelter. Langevin is a Québec fixture—a real draw if you're looking for something beyond the usual bar crawl on a drizzly day.

If you're willing to venture slightly outside the island, Sean Paul plays Beachclub in Pointe-Calumet on Sunday at noon, about 31 kilometres north. The Jamaican rapper and singer moves between dancehall and pop with the kind of catalog that fills a whole afternoon; it's a drive, but the beach setting in summer makes it a destination rather than just another show. Myles Smith with Michael Marcagi hits Place Bell in Laval on Tuesday at 8:00 PM—closer in, about 13 kilometres away, and the arena is a proper room for a touring act.

Beyond the marquee events, the week offers quiet wins. Jacopo, a new Italian restaurant on Place Jacques-Cartier in Old Montréal, serves handmade fettuccine tableside inside a hollowed wheel of cheese—the kind of detail-obsessed touch that makes a meal memorable rather than routine. Hit it early in the week before the crowds arrive, or later when the weather clears and the square itself becomes part of the meal. Terrasse Sur L'Auberge works well for a meal with patio feel if the sun cooperates by Friday.

Saturday arrives clear and temperate, hitting 24°C with almost no rain in sight. This is the day to sit outside, move through the city on foot, or catch Jo Cormier's comedy set at Le Club Dix30 in Brossard at 8:00 PM if you want a night out that's purely social. The South Shore venue is about 12 kilometres away—not far enough to be a commitment, close enough that it feels like a real evening rather than a sidequest.

The week's background noise includes Montréal's usual rhythm: Westmount's ongoing garbage-collection standoff with the rest of the city, construction perpetually reshaping the streets. None of it changes your night out, but it's the texture you move through.
