Felix Auger-Aliassime has a clear path to make Grand Slam history at the French Open. The 25-year-old Montreal native advanced to the quarterfinals Monday after breezing through the first four rounds, dropping just two sets total. He now stands three wins away from becoming the first Canadian man ever to win a Grand Slam singles title.

"It's a childhood dream to even play here," Auger-Aliassime said in French after beating unseeded Alejandro Tabilo of Chile. "I came here for the first time when I was maybe 12 and it's always been a dream to play here." Ranked No.

4 at Roland Garros, Auger-Aliassime is the second-highest ranked player left in the tournament following upsets to No. 1 seed Jannik Sinner and No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic.

Alexander Zverev is the only player ranked ahead of him still in contention, and they can only meet in the final. His quarterfinal opponent Wednesday is Italy's Flavio Cobolli, ranked 14th on the ATP, a player Auger-Aliassime has yet to beat in two previous meetings. Auger-Aliassime became the first-ever Canadian man to reach the quarterfinals at all four Grand Slam tournaments last week. Bianca Andreescu remains the only Canadian to win a Grand Slam singles title, doing so at the US Open in 2019.
