Céline Dion TV series in development with family blessing

A television drama about Céline Dion's early life in Quebec is in active development, marking the first time the family has formally supported a dramatized version of her childhood story.

The series, working title Growing Up Dion, will focus on her years growing up in Charlemagne, a small town about 25 kilometres northeast of Montreal, where she was the youngest of 14 children. Her father Adhémar was a butcher; her mother Thérèse a homemaker. The family was modest — Dion slept in a drawer as a baby to save money and wore hand-me-downs. Music was central to their household. She performed publicly for the first time at age five, at her brother Michel's wedding. By twelve, she had co-written her first song with her mother and brother Jacques.

Dion's brother Jacques is producing the series, drawing from a book called "Dion, A Family Saga" written by her nephew Jimmy Dion. Zoë Green, known for Sirens and Carnival Row, is attached as showrunner. The project is being developed by LA-based Diamant Rouge Entertainment and is currently being pitched to international buyers.

"This series represents something deeply meaningful for our family," Jacques said in a statement. "It captures the spirit, struggles, and love that defined our upbringing."

Casting has not been announced. No network or premiere date has been set, though the project appears to be moving with momentum as it circulates among international broadcasters.
