Emma and Noah top Quebec baby names for 2025

Noah has reigned as the most popular boys' name since 2021; Emma reclaimed the top spot for girls after being overtaken in 2023.

Emma and Noah were once again the most popular names among newborns in Quebec in 2025, according to the annual ranking by Retraite Québec unveiled Thursday.

For boys, Noah held the top spot, with 618 babies given the name in 2025, up from 572 in 2024. He has reigned supreme since 2021. Léo and Liam rounded out the top three, matching their positions in 2023 and 2024.

Positions four and five shifted. William and Thomas lost ground to Arthur and Louis.

For girls, Emma reclaimed first place with 485 babies named Emma in 2025, after being overtaken by Alice and Florence in 2023. She held the top spot in 2021 and 2022.

Olivia and Charlotte tied for second place in 2025, followed by Alice and Florence. Sofia entered the top five with 367 babies given the name, up from ninth place in 2024 (though 189 babies were spelled Sofia).
