Cool and sunny Wednesday — Ottawa, June 3rd.

Good morning. It's Wednesday, and you've stepped back into cooler air — 11 degrees is a real dip from yesterday's warmth. Dress in layers; you'll want to peel something off by midday if you're out in the sun, but mornings and evenings will feel proper spring. The sky's mainly sunny, which is excellent news for the day, but that UV index is sitting at 8.0, which is high. If you're heading outside for any real stretch, sunscreen isn't optional — the clouds we had yesterday aren't here to filter things down for you today.

Commute should move fine; no major closures or disruptions flagged for the 613 this morning. Give yourself normal time and you'll be sorted.

A couple of things worth knowing as you move through the day: the Bank and Leitrim redesign is moving forward, though a land deal's stalled. Infrastructure's still front of mind around here — the aging pipe work and roads are facing a $229 million funding gap every year, and that's the kind of number that doesn't stay quiet for long. On a lighter note, if you've been eyeing a spot in a park for a drink this summer, the city's running a pilot program that'll let you have alcohol in the open through October. Worth a try if you're planning an evening.

Lunch-wise, the weather's cooperating. If you're after a patio, today's your day — 11 degrees with sun means you'll be comfortable with a jacket or sweater. The Whalesbone is solid if seafood's calling, or hunt down something in the ByWard Market if you want to wander and pick what feels right. Uncle Carmines is always worth a stop for a sandwich if you're on the move.

This evening, if you're looking for something to do, Singin' In The Rain is playing at Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe at 7:30 PM. The light hangs till 8:45 PM, so you could catch an early dinner and still have a clear walk home if the mood strikes. Whether you head out or stay in, the weather will hold — no rain, no surprises.

Stay warm out there, and don't skip the sunscreen. See you tonight.
