Tuesday, 12 degrees and a long evening ahead

Morning's 12°C with some cloud cover — layer up for the commute, but you'll want to shed one by midday. UV's sitting at 8, which is high, so if you're spending the afternoon outside, don't skip the sunscreen. Sun doesn't set until 8:50 tonight, so you've got a real evening to work with.

Commute looks clear this morning. Nothing major reported, so you should move pretty smoothly wherever you're headed.

Few things worth knowing before coffee hits. There's a bit of noise around Ontario municipal campaign spending limits — the rules are under fire locally. Worth keeping an eye on. Also caught wind that a citizen journalist named Natasha Baldin picked up a nursing association award, which is solid. On the rougher side, police seized a significant number of electronics in a child exploitation case — that one landed hard. And if you've got kids in the board, there's some policy talk around a new elementary school named after Brian Mulroney. Senators owner Andlauer is also bidding on the Château Montebello with a local group, which could shake things up across the river.

If lunch is on your mind, there's some fun stuff happening food-wise. BeaverTails is doing a summer collab with Kraft Dinner that's worth trying if you're into that kind of thing. That's Bananas just brought Brazilian street food to Baseline Road, so if you're out that way. And there's ongoing chat about spice levels at a local diner — apparently people have opinions, and the letters to the editor are flying. There's also a startup matching romance readers with books based on "vibe review," which is weird and kind of charming.

Tonger's got options. If you're out for live music, indie pop's happening at The 27 Club at 7:30 with Lia Pappas-Kemps, Rachel Bobbitt, and Hannah Vig. Volleyball Nations League full package runs at The Arena at TD Place at 8:00 if you want to catch some international play. There's also a soccer match in the mix — always worth checking what's on at the stadium. With sunset not until 8:50, you could do an early dinner and catch live music or a match without feeling rushed. Pick whatever suits your mood.

Long day ahead, good light all the way through, and something to do if you want it. Get out there.
