Sunny Wednesday, minus the transit smooth sailing

Morning's treating you right: 14°C, mainly sunny, and you've got a UV of 7 (high, so sunscreen if you're out a while). Sun doesn't set till 8:55 tonight, so there's real evening to play with.

Heads up on transit—OC Transpo's cancelling dozens of school route trips today, which affects about 3,600 students. If you're commuting and usually lean on those buses or the ripple effect they create, give yourself a bit extra time or check your usual route before you head out.

On the local front: the Redblacks traded QB Brown to Winnipeg and signed veteran Bethel-Thompson to fill the gap. Meanwhile, the Senators just landed winger William Eklund from San Jose—decent bit of news for hockey heads. Separately, lead's been detected in water at some OCDSB schools, which is worth knowing if you've got kids in the system. On the crime side, a man's facing 61 charges tied to break-ins in Vanier and Overbrook.

If lunch is calling, Le Mien Craft Noodle is doing hand-pulled bowls over in the ByWard Market—solid option if you want something warm and quick. Dinner-wise, Château Laurier's reimagined its waterfront spot with Émilie's Terrace, and Cactus Club's dropped a $9 smash burger and frosé for summer if you want something lighter. The beer patios are solid today with this weather—everywhere from York Street to some creative parking lot spots are worth checking out, especially if you're thinking of catching Canada-Sui on a TV outside.

Tonight's got options. Meghan Patrick's playing Rum Runners at 7:00 if country's your thing. Dirty Bingo's at Wolves Den same time for something goofier. Paranormal Cirque Nightmare's at St Laurent Shopping Centre at 7:30 if you want the circus thrills indoors. Or if you're feeling proper, the National Arts Centre Orchestra's on at 8:00. Take your pick based on the mood.

Get out there and use this light. See you around.
