Partly cloudy Thursday — live music and circus tonight

It's a soft 13°C out there this morning, partly cloudy, so you won't need the heavy layer. UV's sitting at 5 though — higher end of moderate — so if you're spending the afternoon outside, sunscreen's worth it. You've got a full 15 hours and 40 minutes of daylight to work with, sunset at 8:55 PM, so evening plans have room to breathe.

Nothing major to flag on the commute this morning. Standard Thursday flow.

If you've been paying attention to the federal building shuffle, the NCC just green-lit redevelopment of seven properties over at Confederation Heights — part of the ongoing reshaping of how the nation's capital uses its real estate. Closer to home, the school board walked back those bus attendant cuts after parents made enough noise about it, which is the kind of win that actually sticks when people show up. And over in Rockcliffe, firefighters pulled a woman out after she fell from the lookout — glad that one ended okay.

If lunch is calling, Le Mien in the ByWard Market is doing hand-pulled noodle bowls if you want something warm and straightforward. For dinner, Cactus Club's dropped a $9 smash burger for summer, or if you want to sit on water, Château Laurier's new Émilie's Terrace is reimagining waterfront dining — both solid moves for a Thursday night.

For tonight, you've got options depending on what you're in the mood for. Meghan Patrick's Golden Child Tour is at The Bronson at 7:00 PM if you want country live. If you're feeling weirder, Paranormal Cirque Nightmare's setting up at St Laurent Shopping Centre at 7:30 — yes, circus indoors, yes, it's a whole thing. The National Arts Centre Orchestra's got Shelley conducting Mahler's Resurrection at 8:00 PM if you want something orchestral and serious. And if you just want low-key live music, Kalsey Kulyk's playing Rum Runners at 8:00 with Eric Ethridge and Sarina Haggarty.

With the mild weather holding and sunset not until nearly 9 PM, it's a good night to get out of the house. Whatever you pick, you've got time.

Stay sorted.
