Monday before the long weekend—catch the evening while you can.

Morning. It's Monday, June 29th—the calm before the Canada Day rush. You've got 15 hours and 38 minutes of daylight to work with, so if you're planning anything outdoors, the UV's running hot at 9.0, which means you'll want sunscreen even on a partly cloudy day like this. Temperature's sitting at 15°C, so layer if you're heading out early, but you can strip down later. Sunset's 8:55 tonight, which gives you a solid window for anything evening-side.

Commute should be straightforward—no major disruptions flagged for the day.

Couple of things worth noting while you're thinking about the week ahead: the Redblacks took another loss down in Montreal over the weekend and are still hunting for that first win. On the brighter side, the Senators' GM came out swinging after a busy trade week, sounding pretty confident about where the roster's headed. If you're into the city's bones, Carlingwood mall is marking 70 years and still holding its own—the place has changed a lot, but it's kept something that matters to the people who've been shopping there since the '50s. And if you've noticed the parking meters expanding around town, you're not imagining it—the city's been growing parking revenues as more paid options roll out.

If you're thinking lunch or dinner, there's some solid new energy in the food scene. Chiqui Bakery just landed in Vanier bringing Mexico City's pan dulce tradition north—proper stuff. Over in the ByWard Market, Le Mien Craft Noodle is doing hand-pulled bowls if you want something warm and filling. For something with a view, the Château Laurier's opened Émilie's Terrace reimagining waterfront dining. And if you want something quick and summery, Cactus Club's running a $9 smash burger and frosé special.

Tonight's your move. If you're looking to get out before the holiday madness, there's live music at Confederation Park—Ibrahim Maalouf's on the bill if you want something jazzy and sophisticated in the open air. Or if you want to lean into something weirder, Paranormal Cirque Nightmare is set up at St Laurent Shopping Centre at 7:30 PM—it's circus the way it's meant to feel, a little unsettling. Club SAW's got Mei Semones and Jahmeema spinning R&B at 8:30 PM if you're after something indoors and upbeat. With sunset at 8:55, you'll have light for most of the evening if you head to the park.

Have a good one.
