Saturday warmth and real options — soccer, live rock, and a city counting storm damage.

It's 21 degrees and climbing to feel like 28 — dial back the layers and plan to be out for most of the day. The UV's running high at 7.0, so sunscreen matters if you're spending real time outside. You've got until 8:54 PM to work with, which is more than fifteen hours of good light.

Ottawa's still working through what that storm left behind earlier in the week. The city's counting damage now — 2,000 flooded basements across the region, which is serious. If your place got hit, the cleanup's underway; if it didn't, check in on friends and neighbours who might need a hand. Storms like that don't leave town quietly.

On a lighter note, the school board just signed off on next year's budget, though they're looking at a $3.5-million shortfall despite cutting costs hard. And the Redblacks are still wrestling with their season — they lost again yesterday, extending the losing streak to ten games. If you're thinking about getting out to see the team play, today's a good Saturday for it.

If you're hungry, there's real food happening around the city. Chiqui Bakery just brought Mexico City's pan dulce to Vanier — that's a solid lunch or coffee stop if you're in the neighbourhood. There's also hand-pulled noodles worth trying at Le Mien Craft Noodle in the ByWard Market if you want something warm and substantial. And if you're curious about what Ottawa's doing with fruit desserts, the city's pastry shops are getting creative with trompe-l'œil work — worth a look if you're browsing.

Tonight's got real options. Atlético Ottawa's home opener is at The Arena at TD Place at 3:00 PM against Cavalry FC — it's Saturday, it's soccer, and the weather's perfect for it. If live rock is more your speed, The Tea Party's playing at Hard Rock Casino Ottawa at 7:00 PM with Bif Naked. And if you want to dance late, OFF CAMPUS NIGHT is running at both The Bronson and The 27 Club starting at 9:30 PM.

Warm day, good light until late, and a city that's earned a break. Get out there.
