Clear skies and good vibes—Saturday's yours to spend.
Fifteen degrees, plenty of daylight, and live music waiting when the sun drops at 8:39 PM.
Morning's looking sharp—mainly clear, UV's running high at 8, so you'll want sunscreen if you're heading outside for the day. Fifteen degrees means layers work, but you're not fighting weather. You've got a full fifteen hours of daylight to play with, so plan accordingly.
If you're thinking about heading downtown or the Market, keep your head on a swivel. Three assaults with edged weapons came down in the ByWard Market and Nepean on July 23—all victims are stable, but it's worth being aware of where you are and who's around you.
On the brighter side, there's fresh energy in the Market right now. Rimap Hospitality just opened a second Marriott with 224 rooms in a converted historic warehouse, which is changing the neighbourhood's pace a little. And if you're craving something good to eat, the Kanata Night Market opened up with beef skewers, fresh smoothies, and vendors from out of town—worth the drive if you're on that side. In the city proper, Spicy Man on Merivale is doing authentic Chinese with heat levels you can dial in, and if Little Italy's your neighbourhood, Ayla's Social Kitchen is pulling flavours from Mediterranean through to Iran.
Tonight's got real energy. Souls of Mischief are playing hip-hop at Overflow Brewing at 7:30 PM—that's early enough you can catch them over dinner and still have your evening. If you're thinking later, Christian Smith's spinning electronic at System Saturdays (Rum Runners, 10 PM), and there's a Shrek Rave at The 27 Club at the same hour if you want something weirder and louder. Either way, you've got options that'll keep you moving once the sun's down.
It's a Saturday—no commute stress, no O-Train delays to ruin your morning. Use the daylight, get out somewhere. Weather's on your side.
