Rain's Sticking Around, but It's Warmer Today
Light rain all day, 20°C, and Mamma Mia! tonight if you need an indoor escape.
Morning. It's 20°C out there and rain's still hanging on—second day running now—but at least it's warmer than what we've had. Bring an umbrella if you're heading anywhere; the rain's light but steady. You've got about 14 and a half hours of daylight, and the sun won't set until 8:35 PM, so the evening's got some stretch to it even if the weather stays grey.
Commute looks normal. Nothing major blocking your usual route, so you're good to get where you need to go.
If you've been following the news around Sandy Hill, Operation Restore wrapped up a week-long safety crackdown yesterday—arrests made, recoveries happening. Worth knowing if that's your neighbourhood or you pass through.
There's also been a conversation happening about window safety after four falls in four months; if you're a parent or have kids in your circle, that's worth a read. And Arlo over on Somerset just made the 50 Best Discovery guide—first Ottawa restaurant to land it, which is the kind of quiet win the food scene here doesn't always get shouted about. If you're looking for dinner ideas, Arlo's worth the buzz, or Kozhi just opened in Chinatown if you want something newer. Spicy Man on Merivale is doing solid authentic Chinese with heat levels that work for anyone, and the Lansdowne Farmers' Market's got more going on than you'd think beyond the usual organic-egg crowd.
Tonight, Mamma Mia! is playing at the National Arts Centre if you want to get out of the rain and sing along to ABBA for a couple hours. That's the main event in the city tonight. There's also baseball—the Titans are playing Sussex County at Ottawa Stadium at 3:30, but rain's going to make that a soggy watch if you're heading out.
It's a Wednesday, a work day for most of us. Get through it, stay dry, and you've got the evening to catch your breath. The weekend's coming with the REDBLACKS taking on Montreal Friday night if you're into that.
See you around.
