Thursday's got heat, music, and a restaurant moment worth your time.

Morning's mild and the UV's running high at 8.0, so if you're heading out at lunch don't skip the sunscreen. You've got just over fourteen hours of daylight, and sunset's at 8:24 tonight—plenty of time to stretch the day if you want to.

O-Train west extension's still dealing with Canada Day flood damage, so the folks at OC Transpo are working through a partial reopening. Check before you rely on it for your commute—the situation's fluid. Otherwise you're clear.

There's some heavy news in the city this morning. Two stabbings across downtown have left one person in critical condition, and earlier this week there was a sexual assault on Rideau Street that's landed someone in custody. Worth knowing what's going on in the spaces you move through.

On the brighter side, the Little Italy affordable housing tower just cleared a major planning committee, which is real progress for people looking for roots in that neighbourhood. And LeBreton Flats keeps building something genuinely walkable from what was contaminated ground not long ago—the transformation's worth watching.

If you're thinking about fuel, gas dropped nine cents a litre overnight and you're looking at 163.9 cents per gallon at the pump today.

For lunch or dinner, there's some genuine news. Arlo on Somerset just made the 50 Best Discovery guide—first Ottawa spot to crack that list—and Kozhi's new in Chinatown as the whole Somerset corridor keeps shifting into something really interesting for eating. If you want something spicier, Spicy Man on Merivale does the real thing with heat levels you can actually tune to yourself. And the Lansdowne Farmers' Market's got more going on than you'd think if you've written it off as the overpriced-organic crowd.

Tonight you've got live music if that's calling you. Hollywood Undead's at the Hard Rock Hotel at 7 PM if you want that energy, or there's heavier vibes over at Rum Runners with Royale Lynn starting at 8. Both are indoor, so the mostly cloudy sky won't factor in—but the mild temperature means heading home late won't bite.

Thursday's your night if you need one. Get out there.
