Monday's mild and the week's already moving.

Morning's mild at 18°C with mostly cloud cover, so you can dress light for the commute. UV's sitting at 7 (high), so if you're out most of the day, sunscreen's still worth it. Sun doesn't drop until 8:18 tonight, which gives you a solid 14 and a half hours of daylight—plenty of time if you need to get outside after work.

Work week's underway and the capital's public service is moving. Nearly 9,100 federal workers took an early-retirement incentive in the first week alone—biggest batch we've seen in a while. If you're in that world, you'll be hearing about it around the office. Meanwhile, there's an inquest starting today into a 2017 police shooting that's been a long time coming—it's the kind of thing that matters to the city's relationship with its police force.

On a lighter note, things are shifting on the food front. Somerset Street keeps gaining ground as a serious dining strip—Arlo just made it into an exclusive 50 Best Discovery guide (the first Ottawa spot to do it), and Kozhi's opened in Chinatown as part of that momentum. If you're looking to eat well, the Glebe's little Italy corridor is worth a walk too—16 standout spots packed into one neighbourhood. Lansdowne Farmers' Market's got surprises beyond the usual organic fare if you're grabbing lunch or planning the week's groceries.

It's not all good news. An Orléans brewery that's been around a decade is closing—rising costs and the pressures the whole hospitality sector's been under finally caught up. And if you've been following the ByWard Market renovation story, vendors who put up protest posters have started getting breach notices, which is heating things up.

Tonight there's live music at The 27 Club—Ben Nichols is playing free, alternative rock, no cover charge. Perfect low-key Monday if you want to get out without it being a big production. Looking ahead, Bonnie Raitt's at the NAC Wednesday if blues and classic Americana are your speed, and Soap Girls are hitting Club Andromeda Thursday for something heavier.

It's a decent Monday. Get through the commute easy, grab something good to eat if you can, and if you feel like catching some live music tonight, you're sorted.
