Saturday's sharp and clear — grab dinner, catch a show tonight.
It's cooler than it's been, but the sun's out and the evening's yours to plan.
Morning's sitting at 12 degrees under partly cloudy skies — a real shift from the warmth you've had all week. The UV's running high at 7.0, so if you're spending time outside today, sunscreen's worth grabbing. You've got a solid fourteen hours of daylight, and the sun won't dip until just after 8:10 tonight, so there's plenty of time to move between plans.
If you're heading downtown or east on the O-Train, Line 1's still dealing with overhead wire problems at the east end. Might be worth checking the latest before you head out, especially if you're catching something in that direction later.
Westboro's had some real restaurant news this week — Brassica, the spot everyone's been talking about for that banoffee pie, is closing after less than three years. It's worth knowing if you were planning a trip there. On the other side, Little Bones keeps pulling crowds with upscale tacos and tequila cocktails if you're in the mood for something good and social. Little Italy's also been on a proper run — sixteen standout restaurants now, which is wild for one neighbourhood. And if you haven't heard, Arlo on Somerset just made it into the 50 Best Discovery guide, the first Ottawa restaurant to land there. Worth the trip if you're after something special.
Tonight's got real options. There's live music and comedy spread across town — Amit Tandon's doing comedy at Algonquin Commons at 7:30 if that's your speed, and Club SAW's got a lineup starting at the same time with in passing., TRVLR, Tucana, Stendhal Syndrome, and Under The Stars if you want rock and dancing into the night. The Chef's Table at the National Arts Centre is sold out, but if you're grabbing dinner before heading somewhere, there's plenty to land on in the neighbourhoods. With the sun hanging late and the temperature crisp, it's a solid Saturday for being out.
Head out, eat well, and catch something good tonight — it's the kind of evening for it.
