Monday morning: 18 and misty, O-Train trouble, metal tonight

Morning. It's 18 degrees and misting out there—warmer than the last few days, but humid enough that you'll notice. UV's sitting at 7, which is high, so if you're out for any stretch of the day, sunscreen still matters even under the cloud cover. Sun's down at 8:07 tonight, so you've got a solid fourteen hours of daylight to work with.

On the O-Train front: Line 1's disrupted after Cyrville Station today. If that's part of your commute east, plan for delays or consider an alternate route. Worth checking before you head out.

Couple of things worth knowing this morning. Firefighters pulled a woman out of Rebecca Pond over the weekend—she was trapped waist-deep in mud. Lucky they got there. Separate thing: a bagpiper got hurt in an unprovoked altercation downtown Saturday afternoon. The city's still got some rough moments, but most days we're solid.

On the restaurant side, Brassica in Westboro's closing after just under three years—if you've been meaning to get their banoffee pie, sooner's better than later. Little Bones is the newer hotspot in that neighbourhood drawing crowds with upscale tacos and tequila cocktails if you want to scope that out instead. Little Italy's also been on a run lately; there's real vitality there if you're hungry for options. And if you want to feel like you're eating at a place people are actually talking about nationally, Arlo on Somerset just landed in an exclusive 50 Best Discovery guide—first Ottawa restaurant to make it in.

If you're the type who wants to get out of your head on a Monday night, Madball's playing Rum Runners at 7:30 with Combust, Age of Despair, and My Place of Rest. Metal show, full room energy, the kind of thing that burns off a Monday. Indoor, so the mist won't matter.

This week's got some solid stuff coming—Deep Purple's on Saturday if you want to think ahead—but tonight's either that or a quiet one at home. Either way, you're sorted.

Get through the day. See you on the other side.
