Tuesday's light and warm — catch the evening before dark hits early.

Morning's mild at 14 degrees, partly cloudy, and the UV's sitting at 7 — that's high, so if you're outside for any stretch, sunscreen's worth it. You've got a solid 14 hours of daylight, but don't sleep on the sunset: it's 8:06 PM tonight, so if you're planning an evening thing outdoors, you've got time but not endless amounts of it.

On the transit side, there's good news if you ride the O-Train or catch a bus regularly. Mayor Sutcliffe's pledging a 30 percent cut to the monthly pass — bringing it down from $138.50 to $95. That's a real difference if you're paying out of pocket. Worth keeping an eye on how soon that lands.

A couple of things in the city worth knowing about: mental health support for local kids is surging, especially overnight texting services — if you've got teenagers or work with them, that's real and worth knowing about. On the infrastructure side, Ontario's new bike-lane rules are forcing changes to 27 transportation projects across Ottawa, so expect some adjustments to how some of your regular routes look over the next while. And if you're thinking about running for something in municipal politics, the registration deadline's Friday — 48 hours left to get your name in.

Food-wise, there's movement. Brassica in Westboro — they were doing amazing banoffee pie — is closing after less than three years, which stings a bit. But if you're craving upscale tacos and tequila cocktails, Little Bones over there is pulling crowds right now. Little Italy keeps getting better; there are 16 standout restaurants worth exploring if you haven't wandered down lately. And if you want to try something that's getting real buzz, Arlo on Somerset just made the 50 Best Discovery guide — first Ottawa restaurant to land it. For a proper smash burger, Hum's the extreme version, and people say it's worth it.

Tonight, if you're out after work, Letlive, Oxymorrons, and FITH are playing at Overflow Brewing starting at 7:30 PM — hip-hop and rap crew, good energy if that's your thing. It's indoors, so weather's not a factor.

Otherwise, regular Tuesday — get what you need done before dark, and enjoy that mild afternoon if you can.

Stay sorted.
