Thursday's Got Live Rock and a Solid Commute Ahead

Morning. We're looking at 14 degrees and partly cloudy — nothing wild, but that UV's sitting at 7 (high), so if you're out most of the day, you'll want the sunscreen. You've got almost 14 hours of daylight, which means the sun won't drop until after 8 tonight, so plan your evening around that if you're heading out.

Commute looks clear — no major disruptions flagged for your way in. Standard Thursday morning.

Few things worth knowing as the day unfolds. A propane tanker crashed in Greely and residents were evacuated, but the leak's been contained — not something that should touch your day, but good to know it's handled. On a different note, if you're into the energy side of things, there's an Ottawa entrepreneur working on a micro-hydro turbine that could bring electricity down to around 10 cents per kilowatt-hour. That's the kind of local innovation people talk about.

Also: Ottawa police are still searching for 13-year-old Nakita Morris-Copenace, who's been missing since Sunday. If you see anything, reach out to them.

Food-wise, if you're looking for lunch or dinner, there's a new fine-dining fried chicken spot called Kozhi that just opened on Somerset West — Chef Teegavarapu Sarath Mohan's running it, and that's worth a visit if you're in the mood. Over in Westboro, Little Bones is drawing solid crowds with upscale tacos and tequila cocktails if that's more your speed. Heads up though — Brassica, the beloved Westboro spot famous for their banoffee pie, is closing after less than three years, so if you've been meaning to go, make the time sooner rather than later. And Little Italy's still holding strong with a bunch of standout restaurants scattered through the neighbourhood if you want to wander and pick something that catches your eye.

Tonight's got real options if you're looking to get out. The Wallflowers are playing at History Ottawa at 7, Swervedriver's at Bronson Centre at 7 (Brooklyn Vegan Presents raising them at 35), and The Odds with Jeremy Fisher are at Overflow Brewing at 7:30. All solid live rock — pick your vibe and go. Weather's on your side for heading out, and you've got daylight until well past 8, so no rush.

Have a good one.
