Clear skies, good eating, live music — Saturday's yours.

Morning's sitting at 12°C with mainly clear skies — that UV is running high at 7, so if you're heading outside for the day, sunscreen's worth it. You've got good light until nearly 8 p.m., so there's time to play with.

The big transit story this week is that ridership's jumped 10 percent on key OC Transpo routes as the federal workforce heads back to the office. If you're on those corridors Monday morning, expect it to be busier than summer's been. Today's a Saturday though — transit's lighter, and you've got flexibility.

On the food front, there's genuine change happening. Brassica, the Westboro spot everyone knew for that banoffee pie, is closing after less than three years — if you haven't been, there's still time. But there's new energy too: Chef Teegavarapu Sarath Mohan just opened Kozhi on Somerset West, a fine-dining take on fried chicken that's worth seeking out. If upscale tacos and serious tequila cocktails are more your lane, Little Bones in Westboro keeps pulling a crowd.

Locally, there's news worth noting. Four Ottawa councillors are running unopposed into the next term after the Aug. 21 nomination deadline closed. On the business side, 1Valet — an Ottawa company — just landed a $15 million credit facility from Scotiabank, a solid vote of confidence in what they're building. And if you drive the 401 or 7 east or west of the city, Ontario's bumped speed limits up to 110 km/h on select routes — worth knowing if you're heading that way.

Tonight, you've got real options. If you want something cultural, SHIVOHAM: A Kathak Aradhana with Shivangi Bharti is on at Algonquin Commons Theatre at 5 p.m. — Kathak's intricate, rhythmic, beautiful if you haven't caught it live. Soccer kicks off at Ottawa Stadium at 3:30 p.m. (Mississippi Mud Monsters versus Ottawa Titans) if that's your Saturday. And if you're in the mood for a Bon Jovi tribute, Wanted is playing the Theatre du Casino du Lac-Leamy across the river at 8 p.m. — the river's right there if you want to make an evening of it on the Quebec side.

Get outside while the light holds. See you around.
