Thursday's mild and clear — commute with eyes open.
LRT trouble on Richmond, Moodie station damage, and a couple of real dinner spots worth your time tonight.
Morning's sitting at 16°C with partly cloudy skies — grab a light layer if you're heading out early, and you've got a solid 13 and a half hours of daylight before sunset hits 7:50 p.m. UV's moderate at 5.0, so the usual precautions if you're spending the afternoon outside. Air quality's fine.
Heads up on transit: Moodie station's dealing with storm damage that's going to need a full redesign, according to OC Transpo's GM — so if that's your usual stop, you'll want to sort an alternative sooner rather than later. Richmond Road's also taking a hit from LRT Stage 2 construction, which is putting the squeeze on local businesses down there. Nothing new on timing yet, but worth knowing if you're planning the day around that corridor.
Couple of things on the radar worth knowing about. There's a high-risk sex offender living in the city with no release conditions — the kind of notice that matters if you've got family in certain neighbourhoods. A cyclist was hit on Laurier near Bay Street yesterday and hospitalized with minor injuries; just keep your head up if you're biking in that area. And a murder charge was finally laid in connection with Granit Ahmeti's death on Farmers Way more than three years ago — a long time coming for that one.
If you're thinking dinner, there's real stuff happening. Chef Teegavarapu Sarath Mohan just opened Kozhi on Somerset West — fine-dining fried chicken, which sounds like exactly what it promises to be. Over in Westboro, Little Bones is drawing crowds with upscale tacos and tequila cocktails if that's more your speed. Fair warning though: Brassica, the beloved Westboro spot famous for its banoffee pie, is closing its doors after less than three years. Worth a last visit if you've got a soft spot for it.
Luke Bryan's at Canadian Tire Centre tonight if you're into that — the Word On The Street Tour kicks off at 7 p.m. There's also the Chef's Table dinner at the NAC tonight, though that's sold out. If you're heading out for the show or anything else, you've got good light until nearly 8 p.m., so plan around that.
Stay sharp out there.
