Monday's crisp — gear up and catch some live noise tonight.

It's down to 8 degrees this morning—noticeable drop from the weekend—so pull out the layers if you're heading out. Sun's bright enough (UV's sitting at 6, which is high), but you won't feel it much in the shade. You'll have just over 12 hours of daylight before things wind down around 7:03 PM, so if you're planning an evening walk or bike ride, don't wait too long.

On the food front, a couple of closures worth noting. Nutty Greek Bake Shop on Preston Street is calling it after 15 years, and Ek Bar—the Toronto restaurateur's only spot in Ottawa—is shutting down by month-end. If you've been meaning to hit either one, now's the time. On the flip side, Ruby's just opened in the ByWard Market with small plates and a serious wine program if you're in the mood to explore something new. Arlo on Somerset has quietly grown from a pandemic wine bar into a proper restaurant over the past six years, and it's worth a look if you haven't been in a while.

The Senators are kicking off their preseason tonight in Trois-Rivières, so if you're into the team, there's that to follow. Linus Ullmark sounds refreshed and confident heading into the season, and there's a roster deadline coming up on September 28th to keep an eye on.

Locally, the Home Bosses Youth Centre is ramping up programs for the new school year and looking for volunteers if that's something on your radar.

If you're looking to get out tonight, the 27 Club has Subhumans, Bad Waitress, and B.A.L.M. Squad kicking off at 7:30 PM—solid punk bill if that's your speed. It's indoor, so you're covered weather-wise.

Stay warm out there.
