Thursday rain, Senators home, and your evening's wide open

It's damp out there—bring a layer. Hockey and culture are both on tap tonight.

Thursday rain, Senators home, and your evening's wide open

Morning. Ten degrees, light rain, and it's the second day running we're getting wet. Grab an umbrella if you're heading out; the rain's not heavy, but it'll stick around through the day. Sun sets at 6:30, so if you're planning anything outside this evening, you're looking at dark by then. UV's low at 3.0, so no burn risk—just the usual October damp.

Commute's clear. Nothing major blocking the usual routes, so you're good to move.

A couple of things worth knowing today: CHEO's rolled out a new tool called Beacon to help sort emergency cases faster and bring wait times down—if you've got kids and end up at the General, that's worth knowing. And if you've parked in the west or south end over the summer, keep your eyes open—vehicle thefts jumped 35% in those neighbourhoods. Lock it up.

On the food front, if you've been meaning to hit up Nutty Greek Bake Shop on Preston, time's running short—they're closing after 15 years. Ek Bar, the Toronto outfit's only spot out here, is also calling it by month-end. Worth a last visit if either's on your list. A&W's launching a Hot Honey BBQ Teen Burger today if you're in the mood for something new and quick. And one of ours—chef Yannick La Salle—just advanced to the 2027 Canadian Culinary Championship, so that's a nice win for the local kitchen scene.

Tonight's got real options. The Senators are home at Canadian Tire Centre taking on Philadelphia at 7:00, so if hockey's your thing, that's the move. If you want something completely different, Cirque du Soleil's Luzia is running at St Laurent Shopping Centre, also at 7:00—indoors, so the rain won't touch you. Comedy's another lane: Josh Thomas is at Algonquin Commons Theatre at 7:00, and Danny Bhoy's at the Bronson Centre at 7:30. Pick whatever fits your mood. It's indoor weather either way.

Hold steady out there. See you tonight.
