Clear Tuesday, mild for late October — get outside while you can.

Morning. It's a proper autumn Tuesday — 5°C, bright, no rain in sight. UV's sitting at 3, so you'll want sunscreen if you're out for a stretch, but mostly this is just a nice day to be outside before winter really sets in. You've got just under eleven hours of daylight, so if you're thinking of a walk or a bike ride after work, you've got a window until just after six.

Commute should be smooth. No major disruptions flagged this morning, so head out as usual.

Local politics is the noise right now — McKenney's thrown their endorsement behind Leiper for mayor, which leaves Saravanamuttoo without that backing. The municipal election is exactly one week away, and if you're planning to vote, mark October 27 on your calendar. Polls will close and unofficial results should be in within two and a half hours, so it won't be a long night if you're following along.

On a rougher note, firefighters were out early dealing with a structure fire in the 6000 block of Bank Street. And there's an arson investigation underway after a suspicious fire damaged a home in Barrhaven over the weekend — if you're in that area, keep your eyes open.

Ontario's also frozen funding to OSAP for private career colleges, which has caught students mid-studies in a tight spot. Worth knowing if you've got someone in that situation.

If you're thinking about dinner, there's good timing with Zen Bowl opening in Centretown — they're doing Shanghai soup dumplings and pan-fried buns, which hits different on a cool evening like this. And there's a bit of buzz around town right now: Kat Ferries, one of the city's top chefs, has traded the grueling kitchen grind for a more sustainable pace at a butcher shop. Meanwhile, our own Yannick La Salle is heading to the 2027 Canadian Culinary Championship after advancing recently — worth paying attention to.

Tonight you've got options if you're feeling something social. Loreena McKennitt's playing the NAC at 8:00 PM if you want something sweeping and atmospheric. Menopause The Musical is on at Algonquin Commons at 7:00, if you're after comedy. Or Ria Mae's at Rum Runners at 8:00 if you want live music in a smaller room. All doors open by 7, so plenty of time after work.

Stay warm, and enjoy the clear sky while it lasts.
