Apt613, the city's creative community publication, turned 17 with a celebration that embodied its founding mission: bringing Ottawa's makers, artists, and organizations together.
The 613 Day party ran from noon to 6:13 p.m. at FONO, drawing crowds for a six-hour dance party with DJ TIMEKODE, refreshments, and vinyl browsing from Baked Goods and Trevor Walker. Throughout the day, three raffles offered prizes from community partners including The ODDs & SODs Shoppe, Nando's PERi-PERi, Art House Café, FONO, Turning Point, and Sweet Pearl Bake Shop.
"Seventeen feels like a fitting age," Apt613 said in a reflection on the day. "Old enough to know who we are, young enough to keep imagining what comes next."
The publication grew from the early Apt613 team's desire to create a genuine celebration for Ottawa's creative community. "More than anything, this 613 Day showed what happens when people choose to collaborate, support one another, and bring their audiences together," the team wrote. "Seeing it happen in real life, year after year, remains pretty special."
Apt613 credited FONO and TIMEKODE for "combining forces around something we all care deeply about: creating connection and supportive environments for Ottawa's creative community." The day reinforced the publication's belief that artists, organizations, businesses, contributors, volunteers, readers, and supporters build the city together.
