Brìghde Chaimbeul, a leading figure in Celtic experimentalism and master of the Scottish smallpipes, performs at the National Arts Centre's Fourth Stage on Tuesday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m.

The Gaelic speaker from the Isle of Skye is known for transforming the bellows-blown smallpipes—the mellower cousin to Highland bagpipes—into something entirely her own. Her music roots in Gaelic language and culture, but has ventured into uncharted territory through her unique arranging style, which emphasizes the instrument's rich textural drones to create a trance-like atmosphere.

Chaimbeul has earned the BBC Young Folk Award, the BBC Horizons Award, and collaborations with artists including Caroline Polachek, Colin Stetson, and Gruff Rhys. Her recent albums draw influence from ambient, avant-garde, and electronic music.

The show runs approximately 60 minutes with no intermission. Regular tickets are available, and the NAC's Under30 program offers $15 tickets for anyone under 30—including teens and kids. Tickets can be selected online when booking.
