High school theatre wins span musicals, plays, and technical craft

The 2026 Canada's Capital Cappies ceremony honoured high school theatre across the Ottawa region, recognizing student performers, designers, and technical crews.
St. Patrick's High School led wins with multiple awards across acting, ensemble, choreography, and production design for its staging of "In The Heights." Holy Trinity Catholic High School earned top honours in costume, hair, makeup, special effects, and ensemble for "Macbeth."
Top critic awards went to Sofia Guerra-Nguyen of St. Patrick's High School (junior critic) and Ariana Guerra-Nguyen, also of St. Patrick's (senior critic). St. Joseph High School's crew earned stage management and staging honours for "Clue (High School Edition)."
Other standout awards included rock sound design at Holy Trinity for "Macbeth," choreography at St. Patrick's for "In The Heights," and ensemble props work at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary for "Puffs, Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic."
The Cappies recognize the technical and performance excellence that goes into student-run theatre across the region.
