Immaculata High School's fiery production of We Will Rock You: School Edition proved that classic rock anthems still move audiences. The Ben Elton musical follows two young rebels, Galileo and Scaramouche, trapped in a dystopian society ruled by Globalsoft and the Killer Queen. Their mission: bring back rock and roll and individuality to a homogenous world.
Bishop Alan Phyllip Rodriguez commanded the stage as Galileo, delivering authentic voice inflections and stutters that made the character relatable. His performance peaked during "I Want to Break Free" and "Bohemian Rhapsody," where he showcased a powerful falsetto. Kiarah Vilsaint, playing Scaramouche, maintained exceptionally clear vocals while moving across the stage, her vocal tones evolving as the character transformed from loner to confident rock queen. Their authentic interactions during "Who Wants to Live Forever" underscored an intricate relationship tested by oppression.
The supporting cast brought vivid energy. Lily Burns captured Oz's lively punk persona with bright singing and hilarious moments alongside Cameron Tyo's fierce Britney Spears—their mirrored physicality and seamless conversation stood out. Jeffrey Garcia confidently glided as Khashoggi, the Killer Queen's right-hand man, punctuating scenes with maniacal laughter. August McComb's powerful roars and structured movements brought the terrifying Killer Queen to life. Dominic Laconi delivered expert comedic timing as Buddy, the mystical hippie historian. The pit band played fast-paced, banging rock songs flawlessly, with percussion and strings creating head-bobbing energy. A show that captured the rebellious soul of Queen.
