A Midsummer Night's Dream lands at Walter Baker Park in Stittsville July 21

A Company of Fools brings Shakespeare's most famous comedy to the shores of the Greek islands (via Walter Baker Park in Stittsville) with a production set against seaside revelry, moonlit dances, and '70s disco energy.

The tale follows four young lovers who flee into the woods, where they encounter a feuding fairy king and queen, a mischievous fairy named Puck, and amateur village actors. A love potion, confusion, tangled hearts, and nothing going according to plan—it's a celebration of how love can be unpredictable, absurd, and transformative.

Expect musical stylings inspired by ABBA and David Bowie, costumes reflecting retro aesthetics, and roughly 90 minutes of laughs and excitement. Audiences may find themselves humming all the way home.

Director Kate Smith is an award-winning Ottawa playwright known for Mr. Burns, a post-electric play and @TheMayor. Costume design by Vanessa Imeson (Fools' resident designer and GCTC's Head of Wardrobe) pairs with set and props by Stephanie Brett, a Prix Rideau Award-winning designer. Musical direction comes from David daCosta, an Ottawa composer blending theatrical storytelling with retro arrangements.

The six-person cast includes Ananya Antony, Bénédicte Bélizaire, Daniella Bell, Max Borowski, Kyle Cameron, and Stéphanie Charbonneau—each taking on multiple roles.

Performances run 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Walter Baker Park, 100 Charlie Rogers Place in Stittsville. The show is pay-what-you-can with no tickets required. Bring a blanket, a picnic, and your fellow dreamers.
