The Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival returns to Wesley Clover Parks on June 20-21, marking the second year at the expanded venue after moving in 2025 to accommodate growing attendance.

Held on the traditional and unceded territories of the Algonquin People and their descendants, the free festival celebrates National Indigenous History Month with family-friendly educational experiences, a Competition Pow Wow, a drone show, live entertainment, Indigenous market vendors, and culinary experiences.

Trina Simard, founder and CEO of Indigenous Experiences, leads the festival's vision. The weekend features a mix of programming designed for both newcomers and those already connected to Indigenous culture and community.

The Festival has become a cornerstone event in Ottawa's summer calendar, drawing crowds seeking genuine cultural engagement rather than tokenistic celebration. The move to Wesley Clover Parks provided the space needed to accommodate rising interest while maintaining the intimacy and accessibility that defines the experience.

For those planning to attend, the festival operates across both days with activities spread throughout the venue. Parking and transit access are available; check the Summer Solstice Festivals website for detailed logistics and a full program schedule.

This is a chance to learn, celebrate, and connect with Indigenous voices and artists shaping Ottawa's cultural landscape.
