The Ottawa Senators will host the NHL Prospect Challenge on September 12–13 in Gatineau, featuring top prospects Carter Yakemchuk and Lucas Beckman.

Yakemchuk, a defenceman, had a goal and an assist in his NHL debut against Detroit on March 24, and logged two assists in his first playoff game against Carolina in Round 1. The 20-year-old is in position to make the Senators out of training camp in October. Beckman, a goalie, led the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League's Chicoutimi Saguenéens to a championship this past season with a 16–4 record and .918 save percentage. He was traded to the Cape Breton Eagles earlier this month.

The tournament will also feature prospect teams from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, and Winnipeg Jets, though the Senators will only face their Atlantic Division rivals. The Sens' roster will include Memorial Cup champions Lucas Ellinas and Matthew Andonovski, who each finished their Ontario Hockey League career with the Kitchener Rangers and will fully graduate to pro hockey this fall.

Tickets for each game start at $20 and go on sale Monday, June 29 at 10 a.m. on centreslushpuppie.com. The tournament schedule runs: Saturday, September 12 at 1 p.m. — Winnipeg vs. Montreal; Saturday at 6 p.m. — Toronto vs. Ottawa; Sunday, September 13 at 1 p.m. — Winnipeg vs. Toronto; Sunday at 6 p.m. — Montreal vs. Ottawa. Ottawa's full roster will be announced closer to September.
