Ottawa-based Inside Edge Properties is eyeing a 1.3-acre lot at 1209 Michael St. N. to build two mixed-use highrises near the St. Laurent Shopping Centre. The development would include a 30-storey and a 28-storey tower connected by a six-storey podium, containing 596 residential units and five ground-floor commercial units totalling about 5,200 square feet.
The site is currently occupied by a low-rise office building and surface parking. The proposal includes an underground parking garage with 207 resident spaces, 30 visitor spots, and 340 bicycle spaces. The developers said they're taking a transit-oriented approach, noting the site's proximity to the St. Laurent LRT station. At the northeast corner will be 6,300 square feet of open space and landscaped amenities. This is the second development project for Inside Edge, which manages over 800,000 square feet of office, industrial, and retail space in Ottawa.
