Carling Avenue continues to dominate the Canadian Automobile Association's annual worst-roads ranking for Ottawa, claiming the top spot for the fifth consecutive year.

According to CAA data, the roadway known for potholes, lane closures, and major traffic chokepoints is still the city's most-disliked street. The top five worst roads as voted by residents are: Carling Avenue, Bronson Avenue, Innes Road, Bank Street, and Richmond Road.

Voters described all those roads as filled with potholes, uneven pavement, poor road maintenance, and heavy traffic congestion. Despite its notoriety in the nation's capital, no Ottawa streets appear on the Ontario ranking of worst roads—Hamilton's Barton Street holds the provincial top spot for the third consecutive year.

Brian Pirvu, government relations consultant for CAA South Central Ontario, said the annual voting campaign helps motivate municipalities to address road conditions. "When people speak up, it helps drive action and ensures governments understand where investments are needed to keep communities safe and moving."
