The city's parking system generated $1.58 million in additional revenue in 2025, with both on-street and off-street collections climbing as Ottawa expanded paid parking into new neighborhoods.
On-street parking revenues grew by $920,000 while off-street parking revenues increased by $660,000, according to the 2025 Parking Services Annual Report presented to the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee on June 26. The city introduced paid on-street parking in Wellington West and Westboro to provide more short-term parking availability.
Parking Services now manages 4,337 paid on-street parking spaces, 2,747 off-street spaces in five parking structures and 11 surface lots, and 6,020 bike parking spaces. Revenue goes toward maintenance and operating costs while also funding the Parking Reserve Fund for future parking system development.
The city's Municipal Parking Management Strategy balances convenient parking with promoting alternative transportation options. The annual report also addresses accessibility concerns raised by the Accessibility Advisory Committee and outlines sustainability initiatives including car-share options and expanded bike parking.
