Ontario tests 10 asymptomatic people for hantavirus from cruise
Three 'high-risk' contacts to remain isolated; low-risk individuals can stop isolation if test negative.
Ontario's Ministry of Health has expanded its hantavirus testing strategy following the outbreak linked to a cruise ship. The province is now testing 10 asymptomatic people with connections to the affected cruise, shifting from earlier protocols. While three 'high-risk' travellers—two cruise passengers and one person on the same flight as a deceased hantavirus victim—will remain in strict isolation regardless of test results, seven 'low-risk' contacts can stop their recommended 45-day isolation if they test negative.
