The Ottawa Senators acquired left-winger Andre Burakovsky from the Chicago Blackhawks for a sixth-round pick in 2028, marking the fourth trade by general manager Steve Staios this week.
The move came hours before the National Hockey League draft began Friday at the Keybank Center in Buffalo. It followed an earlier trade Friday for backup goaltender Samuel Ersson from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Burakovsky, 31, is a two-time Stanley Cup champion who won the Cup with the Washington Capitals in 2018 and the Colorado Avalanche in 2022. In the 2025-26 season with Chicago, he scored 11 goals and added 22 assists for 33 points in 75 games.
"Andre adds skill and playmaking ability to our forward group," Staios said. "We are happy to add the pedigree of a two-time Stanley Cup champion."
The acquisition comes after Staios sent captain Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers on Sunday and acquired winger William Eklund from the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
