Two people were killed and at least five others were injured during a mass shooting at Toronto's Salsa on St. Clair street festival Saturday evening, July 11.
Toronto police issued a warning about an active shooter at the festival site near St. Clair and Arlington Avenues at 8:20 p.m. A total of seven people were found with gunshot wounds; two were pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics performed life-saving measures on at least one victim within a large crowd of spectators.
Authorities secured the scene shortly after 9 p.m. and cordoned off several blocks of St. Clair Avenue. Police have not announced any arrests or shared how many suspects they are looking for. A large police presence remained in the area as officers continued their investigation.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots followed by screams from crowds of people running for cover.
