What's open and closed across Ottawa today

Most of Ottawa's major services are closed for Canada Day on Wednesday, July 1, but transit is running free with extra service, and some retail and food spots remain open.
Grocery stores: Most major chains are closed. Farm Boy is open at select locations, including Rideau and Metcalfe.
Liquor: All LCBO locations are closed. Select Beer Store locations are open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. — check their website for nearest store.
Shopping: Rideau Centre is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Bayshore, St. Laurent, and Place d'Orléans malls are all closed.
ByWard Market is open with festivities including a Vendor Village starting at 11 a.m., Kids Zone at noon, and a free concert on York Street from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Transit and travel: OC Transpo buses and O-Train Lines 1, 2, and 4 are operating on a special schedule with extra service on busier routes. Service is free all day. Line 1 runs 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Lines 2 and 4 run 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Buses run 24 hours. Para Transpo is running 6 a.m. to 3 a.m. with extended availability — regular bookings are automatically cancelled. Book through My Para Transpo or call 613-560-5000. OC Transpo advised anyone heading downtown to plan ahead and arrive early.
Government services: The 3-1-1 Contact Centre is open for urgent matters only. ServiceOttawa Client Services counters and phone lines are closed. The Provincial Court is closed. No curbside collection for green bin, recycling, garbage, or bulky items — service resumes Thursday, July 2, delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
Libraries: All branches are closed. Recreation centres vary by location — check ottawa.ca before heading out.
