OPP investigate inmate death at Millhaven Institution

A 28-year-old inmate died Tuesday after suffering life-threatening injuries in an incident at the maximum-security prison near Kingston.

Provincial police are investigating the death of an inmate at Millhaven Institution in Bath, near Kingston, Ont.

The inmate, identified as 28-year-old Darian Daignault, was injured in an incident involving other inmates around 10 p.m. Sunday. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and died Tuesday.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. OPP investigators are working alongside the office of the chief coroner, the Forensic Pathology Service, and Correctional Service Canada.
