Hank's Chill: hidden slushy bar opens in Toronto

Diet Coke slushies return—now tucked inside a Dundas West jewellery shop with piña colada and more.

Summer 2025 had a slushy moment in Toronto—one that caught everyone off guard. Gateau Ghost's matcha creations went viral. Dad's paired coffee slushies with breakfast sandwiches. But the real outlier was a Diet Coke slushy served in the original can, emerging from the back of Armed, a jewellery shop on Dundas West.

Now it's back, and bigger.

Hank's Chill officially opened May 1, tucked into the back of Armed's storefront at 903 Dundas St. W. Named after the owners' two-year-old son (who is, they joke, "about 90 per cent piña colada these days"), the operation is a full slushy bar rather than a side experiment. The DC slushy returns to prime position, but now shares menu space with piña colada—which immediately became a bestseller—and rotating flavours. Strawberry lemonade kicked things off this month; matcha pistachio and a non-alcoholic Aperol slush are in development.

Armed owners Desiree Girlato and Austin Roberts weren't sure how the Victoria Day weekend would unfold. Then the weather turned warm. "We were slammed Sunday and Monday, those two really warm days, and it was so exciting to see that people are just as excited as we are," Desiree told blogTO.

For now, everything is zero-proof—but Austin and Desiree are working toward a liquor license to spike slushies by summer's end. A standalone seasonal Hank's location could appear in 2027 if momentum holds. Slushies cost between $3.75 and $7 depending on flavour, available seven days a week. The formula is simple: frost, flavour, and the kind of neighbourhood discovery that makes warm weather in Toronto feel abundant.
