Animal released after becoming repeatedly stranded is identified as the same whale that washed ashore
A humpback whale found dead off a Danish island this week has been identified as the same animal released just two weeks earlier in a spectacular and controversial rescue effort. The whale had repeatedly become stranded off Germany's Baltic Sea coast before rescue teams successfully freed it. It washed up on Thursday off the small island of Anholt in the Kattegat strait, which connects the Baltic Sea to the North Sea.
