Researchers discover oldest surviving English poem hidden in forgotten Rome manuscript

Researchers at Trinity College Dublin were stunned to discover the oldest surviving English poem concealed within a forgotten medieval manuscript housed in a Roman library. After digitizing the 13th-century book, the research team found the historic verses embedded within the main body of Latin text. "We were extremely surprised. We were speechless," said Elisabetta Magnanti, a visiting research fellow at Trinity College Dublin's school of English. The discovery represents a significant find for English literary history.
