Theatre Calgary's production of the musical "Come From Away" dominated the 27th annual Betty Mitchell Awards, which honour excellence in professional theatre, winning seven of the eight categories in which it was nominated.

The show claimed the award for outstanding production of a musical. Director Jesse Robb earned Bettys for both his choreography and direction, while Steven Greenfield won for outstanding musical director. Scott Reid received recognition for set design, Cory Pattak for lighting design, and the cast earned a Betty for best performance by an ensemble.

The extended run of "Come From Away" played to standing room only, with all additional performances drawing thunderous standing ovations.

Other winners included "Wildwoman," a joint venture between Alberta Theatre Projects and Vancouver's Gateway Theatre, named outstanding production of a play. The show also earned Bettys for supporting performances by Natascha Girgis and Connor Stuart, as well as Nathan Kay's lead performance in a comedy. Eric Wigston won for outstanding lead actor in a drama for "Botticelli in the Fire."
