Calgary's summer food calendar just got loaded. Three major festivals are bringing global cuisine and cultural celebration to the city over the next two months.
Ube Fest arrives first on June 13 at Historic Fire Hall No. 1 (144 6 Ave. S.E.). The new festival celebrates Filipino culture and the iconic purple yam with an "Ube Alley" featuring local vendors, live entertainment, and market stalls. Admission is free.
Mexifest takes over Eau Claire Plaza July 3-5 with three days of tacos, tamales, micheladas, margaritas, wrestling, and live music—the full fiesta experience.
Omatsuri, Calgary's Japanese Festival, lands July 17-18 at Max Bell Centre (1001 Barlow Tr. S.E.). Japanese restaurants from across the city will serve takoyaki, yakitori, gyoza, sake, and Japanese beers alongside cultural performances and a cosplay contest.
July 17-19, Fiestaval transforms downtown Eau Claire with more than 30 food vendors serving Central and South American dishes, artisan markets, and hundreds of performers celebrating Latin American culture. Admission is free.
All four festivals offer something different—pick your poison.
