Okotoks-based businesses are bringing regional flavour to the Calgary Stampede, which runs through July 12 across Stampede Park.
Covet Sip + Sweets is showcasing home-brewed matcha drinks and a signature spin on the Calgary Caesar. The menu features a Blue Coconut Matcha, Cookies and Cream Matcha, and a Coke Caesar made with Coca-Cola, Clamato, tabasco and Worcestershire sauce. You'll find Covet at two locations on the grounds: in the BMO Centre and at the midway food stalls.
Retro Oasis, an Okotoks arcade, is contributing over 20 of its restored games to the 8-bit Roundup attraction for the second straight year. The retro pinball and arcade experience is set up in the basement of the Big Four building, where more than 100 games will be available to play throughout the festival.
Two Millarville-based artists, Neepin Auger and Renee Gould, are also participating in the Stampede's Art Show. Auger's work honours her Cree heritage through bold-coloured striking silhouettes and visual symphonies. Gould's oil paintings reflect on the western women often overlooked in telling the story of western homesteaders. Their studios will be set up in the Western Oasis section of the BMO Centre, open for questions and conversation with Stampede crowds.
