Okotoks emergency vet clinic SAVE closes Sunday with final adoption event and mystery announcement

Southern Alberta Veterinary Emergency (SAVE) in Okotoks is closing its doors at the end of August, and the community is invited to say goodbye at a final adoption event on Sunday, August 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The clinic at the north end of town will host the farewell event with multiple rescue partners in a bid to help as many animals as possible find homes before the closure. In a statement, practice manager Cheryl Brown said the team wants to use the day to maximize adoptions.

The decision to close was made by SAVE's parent company, VetStrategy, citing the high cost of operations. The closure comes after the clinic's recent growth, making the decision unexpected for the community.

During Sunday's event, an announcement will be made about something new and exciting coming to the Foothills area very soon. No details were released about what that service will be. The parent company announced the clinic's closure in June, giving the facility and community advance notice before the August 31 shutdown.
